The Mayard family has been vineyard owners in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for several generations. They are based in the original buildings constructed by an Irishman in the early 18th century. This building also housed the village’s only clock and was therefore the most important landmark for the inhabitants of the region.
The family also owns an impressive range of vineyards including the famous Crau de Ma Mere and the outstanding Clos du Calvaire. The Mayard family’s wines are typified by their balance and elegance as opposed to the overblown wines so often found in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
