Simonnet-Febvre Chardonnay 100 Series 2013

"Fans of Mâcon-style chardonnay should enjoy this tasty wine, made with grapes grown in Provence and “the outer reaches of Burgundy.” Simonnet-Febvre is a high-quality Chablis producer that has done a good job going beyond the boundaries of that region to produce good-value wines at reasonable prices. ABV: 12.5 percent."

Winery of the Year 2014!!!

Michael Apstein of awards Maison Louis Latour as the 2014 Winery of the Year.  Here's a glimpse of the review:

"While the white wines from Latour have long been the object of near-universal acclaim, the international wine press has been less enthusiastic about the reds--though wrongly, in my view.  Most knowledgeable Burgundian experts today agree that, since Louis-Fabrice has taken charge, the reds have grown in stature, gaining more “oomph” when young without losing the delicacy that makes Pinots from Burgundy so inimitable."  Click here for a link to the article.

With the seasons changing and warmer weather on the horizon, it's time to get together with friends and enjoy the sunshine.  Time to dust of the BBQ, and grill up the American classic with a French twist.  Try this BOS burger from Fast Food Francais in Sausalito.

"IF YOU HAVE yet to visit Fast Food Francais (F3 for those in the know), the third restaurant by Oliver and Susannah Souvestre of Le Garage fame, we suggest heading over ASAP. Far from your typical burger joint, F3 serves up Frenchified renditions of your favorite American fare — think pommes dauphines (decadently rich tater tots), Brussels sprout chips, and patties crafted from duck confit......."

To pair a nice glass of Burgundy with the burger, try this Chassagne Montrachet 2006, great value for a Burgundy Pinot Noir.

Traveling through Burgundy from within California - Chapter 1

Is there a Burgundy region in California? My answer is yes. Understanding Burgundy and what makes the wine so delicious can help us Californians understand how to source quality wine, and how to enjoy the best of Burgundy. If you are like myself, and you were raised in the bay area then there is a good chance you were raised on Napa Valley and maybe a bit tainted.  Continue »
