Beaune Vignes Franches 1er Cru 2008

Beaune Vignes Franches 1er Cru 2008

The glorious Hospices de Beaune continues to benefit from its endowments to help the local inhabitants. The parcel of “Vignes Franches” is to be found mid-slope. The clay soils are scattered with small pebbles which allows for easy drainage of water. In this Beaune "Vignes Franches" we find the same opulence as in neighbouring Pommard as well as an extrememly pleasant fruit-forwardness even when young. It is one of the best Premier Cru vineyards of Beaune, producing a wine that is persuasively elegant and graceful with a fragrant floral nose and yet well capable of ageing to perfection for a considerable period of time.

Ratings
89 points: Allen Meadows, Burghound.com "An elegant, pure and pretty nose offers up notes of both red and dark berry fruit aromas as well as hints of smoke and earth, the latter of which can also be found on the rich, generous and round middle weight flavors that are delicious and focused though mildly tangy on the acceptably persistent finish." 2015+
