Volnay 1er Cru En Chevret 2006
The premeier cru vineyard of Volnay En Chevret lies mid-slope, in the same band of soil where the acclaimed Clos des Chênes, Caillerets, and Chapans vineyards are to be found.
The premeier cru vineyard of Volnay En Chevret lies mid-slope, in the same band of soil where the acclaimed Clos des Chênes, Caillerets, and Chapans vineyards lie in the Southern end of the Volnay appellation. This area is where the best premier crus of the appellation are located, in rocky soils that are high in iron content, with less limestone and chalk than in other parts of the appellation. The resulting wines are sturdier, with more concentration and structure.
Volnay 1er Cru
Not surprisingly, this is aromatically more elegant with a fresh, airy and pure nose of extract of red pinot fruit that precedes moderately reserved, sweet and equally pure flavors that are almost delicate and finish with fine focus and length. This is an understated effort that is very Volnay in character.
