The winery of Corton-Grancey dates back to 1832 and was acquired by Domaine Louis Latour in 1891. Château Corton-Grancey and its winemaking facilities can be thought of as the heart and soul of Domaine Louis Latour. This particular wine is only produced in years when the Pinot Noir grapes reach perfect maturity. Within the Aloxe-Corton appellation, there is one Grand Cru, Le Corton, to which the names of single vineyards are added. The wines from the following holdings: Les Bressandes: 7.58 acres; Les Chaumes: 2.9 acres; Les Pougets: 2.18 acres; Les Perrières: 12.5 acres; Les Grèves: 3 acres, are used to blend Domaine Louis Latours Château Corton Grancey. All of these vineyards are planted with vines that have an average age of 40 years. After 18 months of aging in the cellars of Corton-Grancey, the wine from each cask is then meticulously tasted and appraised. Only the finest casks showing the best color and bouquet and capacity to age will be blended to make the final wine of Château Corton-Grancey which only appears in exceptional years.

Wine Profile

Tasting Notes This Grand Cru has a lovely garnet color and a distinct nose packed with aromas of leather, spiced fruit and oak. In the mouth this bold wine has balanced acidity and tannin and explodes with flavors of cherries, candied fruits and vanilla all complimented by leather and oak notes. An impressive and powerful wine which should be cellared.
